Hi, I’m Trisha!
I have been a social worker since 2008, finding this career path in the midst of my own life challenges. First hand experience taught me that therapy is not something to be ashamed of but a tool to help us humans thrive. Life is tricky. Having a safe place to properly process it all with a skilled therapist is a true gift.
My approach:
You’ll find I’m friendly, kind, open-minded, and easy to talk with. Whether you’re in college, retired, or somewhere in between, we will make a connection. Your background and life experiences may be different than mine, and no matter, I’ll listen, get to know you and together we will find ways for you to feel happier. We may explore how your past experiences and relationships affect your current situation. I will teach you mindfulness strategies, help you problem-solve, and support you in your own self-reflection process.
My Journey:
Growing up, I thought I would be an elementary school teacher. I followed that path, attending the University of Wisconsin- Madison, majoring in Special Education. I found I enjoyed my relationships with students, parents, and fellow staff but the classroom was not for me. Through a self-exploratory process I identified my strengths and interests and decided I would return to school to earn my MSW, attending Loyola University Chicago.
During the course of my career, I have worked with children, families and adults from all walks of life. While in Chicago, I interned with hospice care. I then worked at a school with students with high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder in addition to being in a private practice treating many professionals and executives. While living in New Haven, Connecticut, I had the privilege of working at Yale University’s Child Study Center, learning from some of the top clinicians and researchers in the world. In time, I supervised a Yale University-affiliated community mental health program, eventually branching out to starting my own private practice.
In 2018 I relocated to Nashville, Tennessee setting up my private practice treating adults across the lifespan. When the pandemic hit, I reluctantly pivoted to online therapy, a move I thought would be temporary. It turned out it worked well for my clients, making therapy more convenient and accessible.
Supporting people through the most challenging moments of their lives is an honor. Each day I am so grateful to do a job that allows me to witness the resiliency of the human spirit.
